I led the UI/UX overhaul of a high-volume automotive Stock Locator, transforming a legacy system into a modernized, component-based interface. It’s where the actual "buying" starts. The goal was to take a dated, clunky search tool and transform it into a modern, responsive interface that makes finding the right vehicle effortless.
The Challenge
The biggest headache was that finding the right filters wasn't exactly obvious. Some were hidden behind a scroll, some dropdowns only had a few options in them, and the whole thing just felt unorganised and clunky.
After talking to the devs, the decision was made to move the search filters to a left-hand sidebar that scrolls with the user. Instead of being buried or scattered, all the options are now in one spot and ready to go. It’s a much simpler, more intuitive way for the user to narrow down exactly what they’re looking for.
Project Goals
Make the filters "sticky" so they follow the user down the page, removing the need to constantly scroll back to the top.
Get all the filters out of hidden scrolls and tiny dropdowns so everything is visible and obvious at a glance.
Take a clunky, disjointed system and group it into a logical sidebar that’s easy to navigate.
Move the platform away from an old, "table-style" feel and into a responsive, e-commerce-ready layout that both the devs and the clients can be proud of.
